If the temperature exceeds 66℃, polymerisation reaction will occur when contacting with amines or alkali metals.

It is mainly used as a raw material for the production of unsaturated polyester resins, alkyd resins, the pesticide Malathion, the high efficiency and low toxicity pesticide 4049, and long-lasting iodamide.
