Transparent, flammable, volatile liquid with fruit flavor. Specific gravity: 0.902, Melting point: -83 ºC, Boiling point: 77 ºC: Refractive index: 1.3719, Flash point (in open cup): 7.2 ºC: 7.2 ºC. Soluble in water, ethanol and ether. May form azeotropes with certain solvents.

Main application

Application 1: As an industrial solvent, used in coatings, adhesives, ethyl cellulose, artificial leather, felt colorant, artificial fibers and other products.

Application 2: As an adhesive, used for printing ink, artificial pearl production，as an extraction agent, used in medicine, organic acid and other products production.

Application 3: As a spice material, used for pineapple, banana, strawberry and other fruit flavor and whiskey, cream and other spices as the main raw material. Spice manufacturing, can do liquor blending with spices, artificial flavor.

Application 4: Extractants, which extract many compounds (phosphorus, tungsten, arsenic, cobalt) from aqueous solutions； Organic solvent. It is used as a standard substance to calibrate thermometers when separating sugars.

Application 5: Determination of bismuth, gold, iron, mercury, oxidant and platinum， determination of bismuth, boron, gold, iron, molybdenum, platinum, potassium and thallium.

Application 6: Biochemical studies, protein sequence analysis； environmental protection, pesticide residue analysis；Organic synthesis.

Application 7: It is a fast drying solvent of cellulose nitrate, ethyl cellulose, cellulose acetate and neoprene rubber. It is also a low toxic solvent used in industry；can also be used as textile industry cleaning agent and natural fragrance extraction agent, but also pharmaceutical industry and organic synthesis of important raw materials.

Application 8: GB 2760-96 is the permitted use of edible spices. Mainly used for incense, persimmon astringent, making spices of granules or tablets, vinegar ingredients. Widely used in the preparation of cherry, peach, apricot and other fruit flavor and brandy wine flavor.

Acetaldehyde method

Acetaldehyde is catalyzed by aluminum ethoxide to form ethyl acetate. Add acetaldehyde, aluminum ethoxide, etc. to two series reactors continuously, and react at 0-20°C. The outlet conversion rate of the second reactor can reach more than 99.5%, and then distill to obtain ethyl acetate. The yield is 95%-96%, and this process is more economical.

  After acetic acid and ethanol are heated and esterified in the presence of sulfuric acid, they are neutralized and dehydrated by sodium sulfonate, and then rectified. Sodium acetate or potassium acetate andethanol are distilled in the presence of sulfuric acid. Acetaldehyde is polymerized in the presence of catalyst lead ethoxide or lead acetate. Refining method: Ethyl acetate often contains impurities such as water, free acetic acid and ethanol. When refining, first wash with sodium bicarbonate or saturated aqueous solution of sodium carbonate, then wash with saturated saline solution, dry with solid potassium carbonate and then distill, collect the middle distillate, and dry it with phosphorus pentoxide (10~20g/kg) at room temperature Distill again. Moistureproof measures should be taken during distillation. The middle distillate  was collected and a small back fraction was discarded. It is also possible to add acetic anhydride to ethyl acetate for reflux and distillation. The distillate is treated with potassium carbonate and then refined by  distillation. The purity can reach more than 99.5%. Calcium chloride forms a crystalline complex with ethyl acetate and is not suitable foruse as a desiccant.
